DeBeers Handout
DeBeers and especially attorneys are advertising like crazy to get consumers to file claims and get money from DeBeers.
You’ve probably seen so far that your store was approached and now consumers are being approached concerning the DeBeers lawsuit. Like a felon who has to pay his fines and jail time to re-enter America, DeBeers has made an agreement to pay monies which will allow them to no longer have a lawsuit charging them as a monopoly with monopoly like practices.
This allows them to start selling retail in their retail stores in
America
(they already have a few).
They have three (3) people to pay off (actually 4)
1. Site holders and those who bought directly from DeBeers. Usually not any of us. They get the most money-they spent the most.
2. Resellers and retailers. YOU. You might get a “tad”.
3. The end consumer who bought it to wear or give as a gift. A talk show in
Florida
this week said on T.V. “you might get up to 45% of your money back”. Not true but leave it to T.V. to hype it up. The consumer is going to get zip. Can’t wait until NighLine airs this stuff.
4. Lastly, the attorneys who always come out on top.
I’m posting this to you to help you out. On polygon a member posted this website. Great. Explains all of it and you can send your customer to this site if they ask you questions. Go to the site and bottom left you’ll see a link “Consumers-File a claim”. They can get all the info and file their own claim right there.

need to receipt to file from you, but might later.

Here is how the consumer is affected.
1. There is a little over $135 million dollars ear marked to be given out only to consumers.
2. This $135 million will be divided based upon the dollars spent and more importantly how many people apply for this. Think of it this way. If 1 consumer files a claim, he/she will get $135 million dollars. BUT if 135 million consumers apply, everyone gets $1, give or take.
3. Everything I read the consumer will get virtually nothing and as a retail store you can also file a claim and you’ll get almost nothing too, unless you do a really BIG diamond business. It’s estimated the site holders in the past and attorneys will get the most. People who do not buy directly from DeBeers will get pittance.
So go tonight to the website. I got enough to be educated in 7 minutes. I’d send the consumer to this site and it says on the site they do not need a receipt to FILE but might at a later date). I’m telling you this for customers asking you “Hey, got a copy of my 1994 receipt when I bought this quarter carat necklace?” Send them here first.
By the way its purchases made since 1994 forward.
I believe you’ll get more headaches from this than you ever got from the “Blood Diamond”
movie.
